Description
Professor is strict about grammar and punctuation so please keep that in mind.
This is a Human resources class, so it's better if you kinda have an idea about that.
This does not have to be in an essay form just put it in question and answer form.
Read this article in The Economist, I put it in the source.
Also read this National Review piece,
https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/07/supreme-court-janus-decision-win-for-first-amendment-freedoms/
about the recently decided Janus v. AFSCME case, in which the Supreme Court held that public sector employees who are agency payers, i.e., who prefer not to join their union, cannot be coerced to pay dues. Under agency fee arrangements nonmembers of public sector unions must pay dues. Under union shop agreements, which are usually in the private sector and so are not covered by Janus, employees are forced to join the union and pay dues. Union shop agreements can be illegalized through right to work laws, which a majority of states have now passed.
Then answer these question. Again it should be in question and answer form.
a) Are the battles about public sector unionism and about right to work laws about workers' rights or political power? (b) What is your opinion of the Janus v. AFSCME ruling and right to work laws?
