Work and Economy

Argue if it is possible for a person who is employed in a working class profession such as a waitress, janitor, fast food employee, car washer, mechanic, office clerk, or another profession on this level could rise in financial status and become prosperous doing this profession his/her whole life? Can a person buy a house, car, or other items doing this profession? Why or why not?
Points you may want to consider:
Is this profession is a good career choice or is it just a way to survive in society?
Is financial prosperity a possibility in the United States?
Are there other ways to get financial prosperity then earning a living?
