I will provide an instruction sheet and it is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL you answer EVERYTHING and follow the guidelines thoroughly in the instruction sheet. This professor wants to see literally EVERYTHING answered from the instructions. One of the things that need to be done is to watch a movie. Here is the website to watch the movie: https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/home The login: [email protected] Yaromyr.R1 You go to the section my vudu and then my movies, very simple. It's literally the only one there. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE SURE TO ANSWER EVERY POINT FROM THE INSTRUCTIONS SHEET. I will provide the sources.
The documentary, Half the Sky, has been a very influential film in the U.S. and other Western nations. From this film, an entire “movement” has sprung (self-described on the Half the Sky website; see below). After watching the film (preferably several times), discuss the perspective of the film (from what perspective is the film from? who is the audience supposed to identify with?) and consider the issues discussed in section 4 of the class. The film reflects a type of ethno-documentary (a documentary in which an individual documents her/his/their own life/lives). After reading Chandra Mohanty’s Under Western Eyes, as well as other articles from section 4 of the course readings, adopt a transnational feminist perspective in analyzing and critiquing the film. The film discusses the local conditions that situate its subjects. However, the greater historical and economic context is left unspoken, a context central to the material conditions faced by the women/girls? What are some main transnational feminist critiques of this Western “feminist” documentary? Please use at least three (3) readings from this section of the class (section iv). Paper length 5-6 pages.
*The film (disc #1 only) is available for rent from Amazon Prime for $3.99
