Women and gender studies

Use examples from at least 3 post-midterm readings to revisit and revise those initial thoughts. Answer the following questions: 1) How have the three post-midterm readings that you've selected enhanced your understanding of the concepts of gender and sexuality? 2) Think about what counts as "expert" knowledge, and how various forms of violence can play into the creation of expert knowledge. Have the readings this quarter changed how you understand the impact of gender and sexuality on your own life? How so? If they have not changed how you understand the impact of gender and sexuality on your own life, describe how the readings might nonetheless relate to your experiences. Helpful hints
1) Use an inter-sectional analysis. In other words, show how the interplay between race, class, ability, indigeneity, and/or other social identity categories shape the meaning of gender and sexuality and are co-created through such interaction. Remember that the social arrangements that give race, gender, sexuality, class, etc., meaning are neither fixed nor immutable. Ideas about sexuality, race, and gender, etc. change over time.
2) Be sure to cite examples from the text. If you characterize an author as making a certain argument, back it up with a quotation and page number.
