Why are rich countries rich and poor countries poor?

following question:
Why are rich countries rich and poor countries poor? How would you explain this? By "rich countries" I mean
the societies of the developed, "First World." By "poor countries," I mean the developing societies of the "Third
World." So, why are countries like the U.S. or Germany or Japan rich, and why are countries like Liberia or
Bangladesh or Haiti poor?
