COMMERCIAL NUCLEAR REACTORS
The NRC and FEMA require each operating nuclear power reactor to establish 10- and 50-mile radius Emergency Planning Zones.
These radii may be increased based on site-specific factors such as evacuation routes, centers of population, etc. To
determine the reactor-specific, 10-mile evacuation/sheltering-in-place EPZ and the 50-mile ingestion EPZs, see the state
radiation protection division Web site for the state that the reactor is located in.

STORMS
SeverePlot v2: A graphical database of severe thunderstorm and tornado occurrences in the United States. Data files are
available for 1950–2002, with annual updates expected around July of each year. The program allows customized plots of
severe weather reports. Full-color plots can be created, with various statistical values also calculated. Tabular data can
also be saved in ASCII format for use in other programs.
Online Severe Weather: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/online/rda/index.html. This site provides maps of severe weather,

WILDLAND FIRE
Storm Events: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/stormevents/ The Storm Events Database contains the records used to create the
official NOAA Storm Data publication, documenting the occurrence of storms and other significant weather phenomena having
sufficient intensity to cause loss of life, injuries, significant property damage, and/or disruption to commerce.
Information on any rare, unusual, weather phenomena that generate media attention, for instance snow flurries in South
Florida or the San Diego coastal area is also available. Other significant meteorological events, such as record maximum or
minimum temperatures or precipitation that occur in connection with another event can be found at this site. The database
currently contains data from January 1950 to October 2014, as entered by NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS).
Wildland Fire Statistics: http://www.nifc.gov/ The National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), located in Boise, Idaho, is
the nation's support center for wildland firefighting. Eight different agencies and organizations are part of NIFC.
