US Constitution

Lone Star College will be publishing a new textbook for GOVT 2305 and has asked you to write a 250-word
section of the textbook covering the principles of separation of power and checks and balances. In the section
of the textbook you will be writing, you will want to include the following information and be as thorough as
possible in explaining them so students have a complete understanding of these concepts:
The definition of separation of powers
The features of separation of powers including
The responsibility of each branch of government
The selection method of each branch
The branch of government that is the most important and why
The definition of checks and balances
The branch of government that has the most checks over it and why
Examples of checks and balances in the Constitution
The branch of government that has the fewest checks over it and why
Why checks and balances and separation of powers are necessary
You will want to use your answer sheet from Watch and Write 2: The US Constitution and pages 58 and 59 of
our textbook to help you write your section of the new textbook. You will want to be sure to let your readers
know where you are getting your information, so information from the text and video needs to be referenced.
Your textbook portion should have a clear introduction, a body, and a conclusion. You can use the discussion
on pages 58-59 of our textbook as a model for your own.
The book that is used in this course is "We the People" by Ginsberg. Attached is the copy of the rubric for this
assignment.
