• For this assignment please choose one of your previous narratives (Short Story or Flash Fiction) OR your memoir
• Then, revise that assignment into a play/script. Use the “Mapping the Journey” worksheet (it’s on the course homepage) to help you begin this process
• If you would like to create something completely new, the choice and challenge is yours.
• This is ONLY a one Act play
Rubric:
SETTING/CHARACTER (at least 2)
• Characters are clearly defined
• Characters develop over the course of the play
• Characters have conflicts & desires
• Characters have plenty of interesting actions
• Characters are true to life, or true to their own reality
• Setting is clearly defined throughout the play PLOT/FORMATTING
• Has a central conflict
• Has fully developed scenes
• Has a beginning, middle and end
• Has momentum
• Has suspense, surprise or plot complication
• Is able to be performed on stage
• Stage directions and scenes are formatted correctly DIALOGUE/LANGUAGE

• Feels authentic, consistent with character voice throughout script.
