Write a riddle to demonstrate your understanding of how facts lead to an inference. Your instructor will review your riddle and facilitate discussion.
Instructions
Part 01 (by due date)
Reread Sylvia Plath's "Metaphor" (see Chapter 3: Critical Reading) in which she creates a "riddle in nine syllables."
Note how the facts—each line in the poem—lead to the inference—the answer to the riddle.
Choose a specific object as the focus for your riddle.
Make sure the object is specific enough to identify (for example, a clock) but not so idiosyncratic to your own experience that readers can’t possibly identify it (for example, my bright yellow sunflower alarm clock with a missing minute hand).
Write 6–10 lines to describe the object without naming it.
Post your riddle to this discussion.
