TypeWriter lc (smith&corona)

TypeWriter lc (smith&corona) Project description Typewriter They ask from as should write about some invented before1945we was selected (type writer lc (smith&corona))was founded in the Science Museum in UK I'll uploaded to you files and photo for type writer smith&corona which we takes photo all the information required by the university Written in this fills , firstand should spoke abut same type writer which in photo , 1-Provides a short description and original supporting evidence (e.g. photographs) of your group visit (see Task 1) 2-Describes: i) The form and function of the artefact or process using appropriate engineering terminology; and ii) The original purpose of the artefact or process and whether that purpose continues in present day use or whether it has changed 3-Evaluates the general condition of the artefact or process relative to its approximate age, and estimates its future expected life 4-Describes why, in your groups opinion, the choice of artefact or process was designed the way it was. Consider the following: Knowledge at the time of production, materials, methods and processes available at the time, and any other aspects that the group think are relevant 5-Explains particular attributes of the artefact or process which appeal to your group and those that do not. Consider form, function, ergonomics, materials, purpose, usability, aesthetics and so on 6-Comments on any aspects of the artefact or process regarding sustainability forget about my group because i will write these for all my group and alsow no need for skating or draws by hand i will draws you will found all instruction in page 1 and 2 takes look in all files for take around and now what they want not all sources from on line and not allows takes information from wikipedia ---------- Added on 08.12.2014 18:08 i attached fills for you i make mark rite for what the want in page no 1 and you will found all instraction in this fills but the importing need in page no 1 and 2 please check before start what the need and don"t forget Design and Practice, EUC_4_005 Design and Practice A – C oursework Design Projects 1, and Communications 1 Module: EUC_4_005 Design and Practice Design Project 1: An investigation of an existing engineering artefact or process Communications 1: Date of issue: Week 5 (w/c 20 th October 2014) for Pattern B students; Lecture Groups 1, 4, 6, 7, 9 Date of submission: Friday 9 th January 2015 Where to hand in: Via Moodle (digital copy) AND T313 School Administration Office ( printed hardcopy) Lecturers: Alessio Corso and Pita Heseltine Please note that this coursework assignment will be assessed for two elements of Design and Practice: Design Projects 1 and Communications coursework 1 Aim The aim of the project is to enable students to unders tand the nature of an existing E ngineering artefact or process and to be able to describe and draw it. It will also help you to develop critical team working skills. Task 1 : Selection of artefact or process Working in groups, students are required to select an existing E ngineering artefact or process pre 1945 for investigation. Provide reasons if only an estimate of its age can be documented . Student groups should do one of the following to help you in your selection: a) Visit one of the below and choose any one of the huge selection of successfully engineered products on display: The Science Museum ( http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/ ) [Free admission] T he Imperial War Museum (http://www.iwm.org.uk/) [Free admission] The Design Museum (http://designmuseum.org/) [Free tickets available to loan from Perry Library ] b) Alternatively, group s should take a trip along the banks of the River Thames and find an E ngineering artefact or process that the team find interesting Task 2 : Description and thoughts about the chosen artefact or process Each student group must provide a well - structured short report which : ? Provides a short description and original supporting evidence (e.g. photographs) of your group visit (see Task 1) ? Describes: i) T he form and function of the artefact or process using appropriate engineering terminology ; and ii) The original purpose of the artefact or process and whether that purpose continues in present day use or whether it has changed ? Evaluates the general condition of the artefact or proce ss relative to its approximate age, and est imates its future expected life ? Describe s why, in your groups opinion, the choice of artefact or process was designed the way it was. Consider the following: K nowledge at the time of production , materials, method s and processes available at the time , and any other aspects that the group think are relevant ? Explains particular attributes of the artefact or process which appeal to your group and those that do not. Consider form, function, ergonomics, materials, purp ose, usability, aesthetics and so on ? Comments on any aspects of the artefact or p rocess regarding sustainability Design and Practice, EUC_4_005 Group working Students will be working in groups of three or four , as specified by your lecturers . Groups will be posted on Moodle in the Design Projects ? ‘ Design Project 1 (coursework) ’ folder, and emailed to every students’ LSBU email account . Please check your LSBU email account daily. Deliverables To be submitted via Moodle (instructions will be discussed in the next Desi gn Projects class with Alessio), AND delivered as a single document to the School Administration Office T313: 1. A report ? N o more than 10 pages (Arial 11 point or equivalent, single line spacing, normal margins) which addresses the points in task 2 ? The group report must be well structured and may have the following headings: Form and Function; General Condition; Design; Attributes ; Sustainability; etc. ? It is important that each group member writes at least one section each. It is the responsibility of the entire group to ensure that each section flows coherently 2. Drawings ? Every member of the team should produce at least one A4 page of drawings which clearly illustrate a group of components or views of your chosen artefact or process ? Each student mus t draw their own different views, and groups of components ? Clear annotations on your drawings will help to clarify detail to the person marking the work ? All pages of drawings must be clearly labelled with the name of the originator, and th e originator’s student number ? To avoid plagiarism DO NOT copy images from any source other than from your own investigations from your visit 3. Turnitin Receipt ? A printed version of the Turnitin re ceipt for the written report . Information on this can be found in the Design Projects ? ‘Design Project 1 (coursework)’ folder , and will be discussed in class ? To avoid plagiarism DO NOT provide copied information from other sources. Refer to the Plagiarism HS4 Document which will be made available on Moodle following the next Design Projects lecture Assessment for Design Projects 1 Please note, the grade received by each group will be shared by all group members, so work as a team . Learning Aim Marking criteria To know and understand practical engineering through a description of an existing artefact or process 30% Using appropriate engineering terminology and descriptions, to demonstrate an appreciation of the attributes of the engineering artefact or process an d the materials and processes used in its construction, assembly or manufacture. To be able to communicate through visual means including by hand drawing 25% Drawings which adequately portray particular relevant features of the design. To be able to write technical English, using appropriate computer based tools 20 % A report which is appropriately clearly and logically structured, written in coherent English and is succinct. To know and understand the principles of sustainab ility 20% Appropriate comm entary on the artefact or process with respect to its sustainability Evidence of reflective learning 5% A short, individually written reflection on the feedback comments provided by the Design Projects lecturer. (See important note below) IMPORTANT: Each student must provide a half A4 page written reflection on the feedback given by your lecturers. This must be submitted after your receive your assessment feedback.
