Town Hall Meeting

You are the featured presenter at a community town hall meeting. Your task is to inform citizens about emerging issues (any chapter's topic of your choice for an issue). Your task also is to mobilize citizens into taking actions steps to address or resolve the issue. You will write three paragraphs (into, "body," and conclusion) plus a paragraph for responding to a peer. The content must be specific and include researched-based facts that support the need for your requested action.
Choose topics from Module About North Carolina.
Suggested Topics for the Town Hall Meeting:
• child abuse or neglect in North Carolina/your community (choose physical, emotional/psychological, sexual, or neglect).
• Intimate partner violence in North Carolina/your community.
• Treatment for children who have been victims of abuse.
• Treatment for children who have been victims of neglect.
• Treatment for for adults who have been victims of intimate partner abuse in North Carolina/your community.
• Treatment for adult offenders of intimate partner violence in North Carolina/your community.
"Issues" and "action steps for change" must be based on what resources are currently available in your community. Do NOT assume that community needs new services, expanded services, policy changes, etc. until you have thorough checked to see what exists. As you check, make sure that you research those services further than a title. For example, do not assume you locality needs a "safe house" or child-focused treatment services (etc.) until you have determined there are none in your county.
• Consider action steps for the issue that include: expanding existing services, initiating new services, modifying existing services, promoting information and awareness of how to use existing services, providing better access to existing services, etc.
