Description of the assignment.
A prospectus is a document outlining the project you plan to complete. In this document,
you must try to convince us that:
1. 1) you have an interesting and manageable term project (which means that you
must show you have an interesting and narrow research question (make it
explicit!)).

3. 2) you have the necessary material/resources to complete your project.
Your prospectus should…
A) Present your topic and your research question.
Your prospectus should describe your research topic and the research question you will
try to answer. It should NOT defend a thesis (having a thesis before actually doing the
research is highly suspicious: how could you know the answer to an interesting and
intricate question at this point?) The best prospectuses give an overview of the problem
as described by current literature to justify their research question.
B) State whether you are writing a research essay, writing an essay AND making a
reproduction, OR making an academic poster.
C) If you are making a historical reproduction, add a paragraph containing the following
information: 1) the technology you will reproduce, 2) the names of all the team members
involved in the project. (Remember teams of more than 2 members must first be
approved by the course instructor. Remember also that, while you can form a team to
build the reproduction, each team member must write an original, unique paper exploring
a different research question).
D) Attach a tentative bibliography to your prospectus. Your bibliography should follow
the APA Manual of Style. Your bibliography should contain reliable academic resources
ONLY. It should also demonstrate to your TA that you have enough relevant and available
material to complete your research.
Submission guidelines:
· The assignment must be typed.
· The assignment must be stapled (or a paper clip must be used)
· Black ink, normal font (Times New Roman 12 pts, Arial 10 pts), normal margins.
· NO title page. Put your name, tutorial number, and TAs name on the top of the first page.
