7) Tommy Curry “The Eschatological Dilemma: The Problem of Studying the Black Male only as the Deaths
that Result from Anti-Black Racism - (I will provide a pdf under Course Materials on Blackboard) by looking to
the particular experiences of black male life in America, this work will be used to critically approach concepts of
“gender” (and sexual violence), and see if systemic generalizations could/should be sought. Thus we will
further consider the methods appropriate to social theorizing, while also looking to further situate and
comprehend the politics of black lives matter.
