Paper details
Part 1 Complete - NO WORK NEEDED
Part 2 - Add 2 Pages to what has been sent using below guidance
Part 3 - Create 4 pages following guidance.
Instructions are as follows:
Use Chicago Turbanian.
Scholarly sources only.
Most sources are documented already.
Part 3 should be a separate document but along the same theme of the first two (its a continuation).
I have included part one to show the theme and purpose. Started part two to show direction.
Part 2:
Selection of a quantitative research methodology. For example, will you use an experimental design to test the
hypothesis that you identified in the last assignment? Quasi-experimental design? Survey research? A
predictive or correlational design using statistical analysis? Please justify the selection, particularly in relation to
any valid alternative methodologies that could have been used.
Operationalize variables and describe data. In this section, your aim is to propose a definition and a plan to
quantitatively measure each variable, as well as explain how data will be obtained (e.g., existing data sources
– if so, which ones? Collection of original data?). At a minimum, this should include the dependent variable
from the hypothesis, the independent variable from the hypothesis, and at least one control variable. This
section needs to be systematic, rigorous, and detailed, so please name each variable, and discuss each
variable separately, as shown below:
Variable Name (dependent variable).
Definition of variable (one paragraph)
Proposed measurement of variable (one paragraph)
How data will be obtained for this variable (one paragraph)
Variable Name (independent variable).
Definition of variable (one paragraph)
Proposed measurement of variable (one paragraph)
How data will be obtained for this variable (one paragraph)
Variable Name (control variable #1).
Definition of variable (one paragraph)
Proposed measurement of variable (one paragraph)
How data will be obtained for this variable (one paragraph)
Part 3:
Part III draws on the material covered in week 3 of the course. It should be 3-5 pages in length and include the
following components in the order listed below:
Identify possible threats to your study’s reliability and validity. In your discussion, make sure to demonstrate an
understanding of what reliability and validity mean, how they are different concepts, and the different types of
validity in particular.
Devise a plan for minimizing threats to reliability and validity in your proposed study. In this section, your aim is
to propose a specific strategy for minimizing these potential threats. The strategy could involve modifications to
the research design itself, and/or measures taken during data collection or analysis of the data. In your
discussion, justify why the proposed plan would minimize these threats, ensuring credible results.
Please familiarize yourself with the grading rubric prior to beginning this assignment.
The suggested way to organize your paper is shown below (please label the different sections of your paper
accordingly):
Threats to reliability
Definition of reliability
Identification of threats to reliability
Threats to validity
Definition of validity
Identification of threats to validity (addressing different types of validity)
Strategy for minimizing threats to reliability
Explanation and justification of how research design, and/or measures taken during data collection or analysis
of the data minimize identified threats
Strategy for minimizing threats to validity
Explanation and justification of how research design, and/or measures taken during data collection or analysis
of the data minimize identified threats
