Thought Piece

Students will write one “thought piece” during the semester. This paper will cover "Hidden Figures" by Margot Lee Shetterly and will incorporate historical material covered in the textbook.
1.) The paper must be 1,000 words in length.
2.) It must be double-spaced, with one-inch margins on each side.
3.) The font will be 12-point, Times New Roman.

1) According to the book, what are some reasons why science was so dominated by white males during the mid-1900s?
2) Why can the stories of these four women teach us about the limitations of gender and race during this time period in US history?
3) According to the book, how did America’s Cold War experience affect the lives and careers of these four women?
4) Should this work change our understanding of 20th-century history? If so, how?
