The sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA)

A local group that campaigns on development issues has asked you to write a short article for their magazine on using the sustainable livelihoods approach (SLA) to explain how poor people are able, or not able, to make a living. The group is particularly keen on knowing how they might use the SLA in their work so they are interested to see a range of different examples in your article. They are also interested to learn from you whether using this approach helps explain the power relations that may limit what poor people can do, and alternatively the agency poor people may have to improve their livelihoods.
