The Social Readjustment Rating Scale (SRRS)

To study the stressors, researchers measure the impact of particular stressors. The Social Readjustment
Rating Scale (SRRS) measures stressors according to the degree to which they require a change (good or
bad) in one’s life. People taking the SRRS receive a stress score, the sum of life change units (LCUs), and the
amounts of change or demand for adjustment caused by stressful events.

What are your thoughts about this scale? What could be improved with this measure? What does it do well?
Discussion post 2:
After studying the material on Freud and watching the clip above, discuss the role that the id, ego, and
superego played in reaching an important decision in your life. Please only share with the class something you
feel comfortable discussing.
