Respond to this question, investigating and discussing critically the educational insinuations (schools) in UK and Finland’s schools include writer’s response and placement (I will provide my experience in placement in academic primary school below). Sub- questions should be considered: • what are the relationships between society, culture, and ideology, on the one hand, education and pedagogy on the other? • What is the education for? • How is education determined by culture and ideology? ? Ideologies which emphasise knowledge (classical humanism, traditionalism - E.D Hirsch) ? Ideologies which emphasise society ? Ideologies which emphasise the individual (’Progressive’ or child-centred approach - Rousseau, Dewey) • To what extent can, and should education change society and culture? • How does pedagogy fit into all of this? Assignment structure: Introduction: explain what sub-questions will be discussed in order to answer the main question. In the main part of the text provide an argument, based on the literature (I will provide some of them on next page) and other literature may be consulted, and on own views. Conclusion: it will provide an answer to the overarching question.
