As you can tell from the readings and from the lecture notes material, the Middle East is a pretty unstable
place now. Analysts are always trying to find the "key" to the Middle East. That is trying to figure out the root cause of that instability so corrective policies or solutions can be applied. In this paper, I want you to put yourself in the shoes of one of those analysts.
Based on what you're ready and what you may already bring to the table, what would you argue is the root
cause of Middle East problems? Write a short essay in which you argue for your position and support your
argument with evidence from readings and elsewhere. What would you suggest be done about it?
