The Lean Process

It’s not enough to know the mechanics of the lean process cycle. You must also be able to apply the lean techniques to a specific situation. Short of engaging in a large-scale quality improvement exercise, one way to demonstrate a practical understanding of lean is to be able to articulate the merits of the process in addressing workplace inefficiencies.
You are the administrative head of the Radiology Department at Shady Vale Hospital. Because you are working on your MHA degree, your CEO has asked you to suggest a solution to the issue of rising labor costs in your department, specifically, the amount of overtime that is being paid. She has suggested that lean process management possibly could help identify ways to address this problem.
Prepare a short memo (no more than 200 words) explaining why lean process management is a good first step in dealing with the overtime issue and what might be achieved by going through the exercise.
