The Internet of Things (IoT)

Over the last ten years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has lurched toward reality in a steady if not slightly disorganized way. Read this interview with Sanjay Sarma, a pioneer in the IoT, then conduct external research and select a specific product that could be classified as part of the IoT. In our new technology infused world, a product could be anything that creates value to a consumer and generates cash flow for the producer. A product can also be considered a service (i.e. Uber is both a product and a service). Use your selected product and its company and answer the following learning objectives:

  1. Identify your selected product that is part of the IoT. What does it do, and how does it do it? Assume your reader has no prior knowledge of this product.
  2. Explain the background of the company that created your product. Explain how the company developed your selected product.
  3. How does your product create a value-added experience for its customers?
  4. Based on your research, what future course of action should your selected company take to further capitalize on consumer trends and increase its market growth?

There is no required word count but you must fully address the learning objectives and follow the guidelines below.
Guidelines for Written Submissions:

  1. Fully support all concepts. If you introduce a term or concept from your research, provide the reader an overview of the concept and explain how it supports or relates to your point.
  2. Document all research. Cite your sources using both in-text citations and a reference section. Refer to APA 7th edition guidelines for formatting.
  3. Provide analysis based on research. Any prediction or assessment must be supported by research previously discussed in your writing. The research is your foundation from which you base your analysis. Avoid statements such as ‘I feel’ or ‘I believe’ as they imply opinion. Your analysis should be logical deduction, not opinion.
  4. Proofread for clarity and grammar. The concepts discussed in professional writing can be complex. Errors in grammar, syntax, or spelling can cause distraction and confuse your reader. Your writing should be free from these types of errors.
