The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) A one of the primary tools used by news agencies and advocacy groups to discover information from the federal government. Although not all information can be discovered using the FOIA, the act has allowed the general population to learn a great deal about government activities.

The Freedom of Information Act has been used by numerous organizations and individuals to require federal agencies to disclose information. These disclosures often lead to news stories. Identify two news stories that are primarily based upon Freedom of Information Act disclosures.
For each of the disclosures that you identify, explain why you think their release is mandated under the Freedom of Information Act.
