After reading the assigned chapters view the assigned video "You would not want your doctor to do your job" and read the APA Monitor Magazine article titled "Why do Men Die Earlier? located in Module 3 and post your response to the following question: What public campaign message or public service announcement (PSA) would you use to encourage men to get regular medical checkups/screening and/or utilize the health care system? Why do you believe your PSA will work to increase men's use of the health care system?

You can not turn on the television today or read a magazine or newspaper without someone expressing concern about the ill health of our nation. Just last week, Major Bloomberg of New York City proposed a new requirement related to reducing the size of sugary drinks to 16 ounces. What is interesting about this action is that it appears that the mayor as come to the conclusion that it is more effective to control the cities dinking/eating habits than to try to change them ( http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/mayor-bloomberg-ban-jumbo-sized-sodas-sense-article-1.1087839 ). This current issue is related to module 3 of your course. Chapter 7, discusses behaviors that are linked to healthy or unhealthy outcomes (i.e., Eating, Physical Activity, Smoking, and Drinking). Chapter 8 discusses sociocultural factors related to health and illness. Chapter 9 begins a discussion on one of the most misunderstood topics in health care, pain and pain management. There is much to learn in these chapters, so get to it.

After completion of this module, the student should be able to:

1.Describe how eating and physical activity can interact with each other.

  1. Discuss the common elements underlying the performance of health behaviors.
