The Book of Joy

1.) Read & Take notes in your journal:
Read The Book of Joy pages ix-38 & take good notes (tattoo, talk to the
text, annotate) in your journal to use in this discussion (and in this online
discussion). Taking good notes is noticing big ideas and terms and quotes
that stand out.
● Remember, this is a class where we're mindful of rhetoric and
HOW ideas are presented in writing. How does Abrams frame this
conversation about JOY? Look closely, be specific and give
example. Jot down beautiful and inspiring quotes and connect
them to the rhetorical triangle.
2.) Post a snapshot of your annotation/talking to the text in this section of
The Book of Joy on this discussion.(You can ignore this)
3.) Post your ideas about the reading in a solid paragraph (6-8 sentences)
to the discussion. Share a line from the reading that grabbed you or got
you thinking. Explain what it means, why you picked it, and how it relates
to the world today. Be sure to cite it in MLA formatting. Example of quote
