The Birthing process

t-home births are on the rise in the US. More women are foregoing
hospitals in favor of birthing their babies at home or in natural birth centers.
Use the information you learned in the Explore learning module this week about the birthing process to
develop an essay answering the question - "Which is more beneficial for mother and baby: an at-home birth
or birth in a traditional hospital setting. Why?" Use additional online resources, as needed, to develop your
argument."
The writing assignment should be a minimum of 500 words.
My personal background-- My first child was in a home birthing center. I had Jaiyda (child 1) as a water
birth. No meds, no IV, no anything, completely natural. The pain was intensified, but overall I appreciated
the experience. However, my 2nd child was hospital birth. I took all the medication I could possibly have
(lol) due to the pain I experience with the first child.
After experiencing both, I would agree that it really depends on the mother which would be more beneficial.
Some mothers will not be able to handle that type of pain so they would not have a great experience doing
it in an all natural setting. With that being said, in my opinion, the water birth was more beneficial. I feel they
taught me how to bond with my baby better than the hospital experience. After birth, they immediately made
me do skin to skin bonding for the first moments of my child's life, where as the hospital took the child right
after delivery. On the other hand a lot of moms have many complications, and need that hospital
environment for emergencies. The are many emergency c-sections that happen everyday.. the baby would
not have made it if they had gone to an home birthing center.
