For this assignment I would like you to watch a film or television adaptation (or a recording of a stage play) of one of the texts we have read and write a three-page analysis of that adaptation. An adaptation always performs some kind of interpretation, so your main focus should be on what you believe the director’s interpretation of the story is. Some questions you should consider for writing your analysis:

1. What changes did the director make to the text, and what impact do those changes have on the story/play/poem, etc.?
2. What elements are similar to the text, and why do you think the director kept those elements intact?
3. Is the film or t.v. show from a country different from that of the writer of the original story/play/poem? What differences or similarities in culture might explain the differences or similarities between the film and the text?
4. How did the film differ from your interpretation of the text?
