This week we've reviewed various aspects of psychopharmacology and treatment. One section of the chapter
discussed telepsychiatry (p.214). This form of healthcare is becoming even more common these days as we
continue practicing social distancing and doctors are trying out innovative ways to deliver optimal care to their
patients. In what ways do you think that telemental health care would be impactful, especially during this time?
In what ways might it detract from a healthcare session or experience? Using examples of the various types of
therapeutic approaches (mostly p. 222 onwards) which do you think would help, and which may not help, those
suffering from depressive disorders or psychotic disorders? What are the challenges and benefits from both a
provider and patient perspective?
(For example, is a mindfulness approach in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (p.233) something that could be
learned and done in a virtual setting? What benefits and challenges do you think either a patient or provider
would encounter?)
