Your next speech is a TEDtalk speech. It is a type of informative speech. You will accomplish two tasks. First, you will “discover” on TED.com a new topic as inspired by one of the many TEDtalks. Do not use a TEDtalk
you have used for another assignment. Second, you will prepare a brief speech using this TEDtalk as the
foundation.
The TEDtalk speech will be 1:45-2:30 minutes in length. (One minute, forty-five seconds to two minutes, thirty seconds in length; the bold print provides an example of what a timestamp looks like) Your evaluation is broken down into three large sections: strategic organization of content; preparation and presentation of content; and,
delivery skills.
To complete this speech successfully, you will complete these large steps in the speechmaking process:
1) Propose a topic, confirm the speech’s purpose, identify your TEDtalk video (ie, a working URL), summarize
your proposed speech topic, and identify a primary expert (likely, the speaker on your TEDtalk video)
2) Research and develop the content for the speech
3) Practice and prepare the oral presentation
