In an organizational context where much work gets accomplished with teams, developing team effectiveness is a critical action to support organizational success. Wang, Waldman, and Zhang (2014) note that effectiveness may be sorted into four categories including “(a) attitudes (e.g., job satisfaction, commitment), (b) behavioral processes and emergent states (e.g., cooperation, helping, cohesion), (c) subjective performance (e.g., subjective ratings), and (d) objective performance (e.g., productivity, actual sales)” (p. 185).
Leaders at ABC International (a hypothetical company) have grown concerned with work team effectiveness when measured using some of the indicators discussed by Wang et al. (2014). In a 4 - 6 page paper, analyze key issues affecting team effectiveness in the current global environment, including both barriers and opportunities. Defend each element of your assessment and include specific proposals or recommendations that maximize opportunities while mitigating barriers that ABC International might experience.
