Listen for interesting bits of dialog, agitated individuals, and crises among both strangers and people you know. Watching random people’s conflicts is often a great way to start your imagination off on a new story. Sometimes even a single line of overheard dialog that reveals a wish, desire, or argument can open up an entire fictional plot. Choose one to use as the opening moment of a story.
