An essay on why spirituality and your relationship with God should be internal as opposed to belonging to a specific religion. Reasons off the
top of my head include:
Religious people can often be hypocritical, going to church on Sunday yet not following the moral teachings
People use religion to control others
People use religion to justify hate
Women are often oppressed or thought of as lesser when there is nothing in any scriipture to justifies that
Just because you go to Church, Synagogue, Mosque doesn't mean you have any sort of spiritual relationship with God, you could just be going for optics, law,
or because you feel like you should without really believing
Many of the religions boil down to The Golden Rule so why subscribe to just one, instead have your own spiritual relationship with God
