SPC Quality Charts

Assignment 3: SPC Quality Charts (All Quality Problem Data is in D2L under Assignment 3) A) Statistical Process Control: X and R (Variable Chart): 1. Use the data provide on the worksheet entitled Problem A of the Excel file to create X-mean and R-range control charts for Cookie moisture content. The file contains moisture values for 50 samples of size 5 that were taken at the Cookie factory baking process over a 25-hour period. (You should use Excel to create the two charts. It is expected that each control chart is clear, easy to read, and fit on a single page. ONLY USE THE FIRST 30 sample pulls OF DATA to create average or center line, Upper Control Limit and Lower Control Limit. Each chart should have an upper control limit, lower control limit, centerline, and a connected line of plotted sample points. The line plot with connected points is best. 2. In the written text, provide your calculation inputs for all your control limits (Overall mean, UCL and LCL for X-chart and Mean Range, UCL, and LCL for range chart). Is the process under control for the first 30 points? 3. After finishing part 2 with your fixed control limits, the last 20 samples were collected. Plot these samples using the control limits calculated earlier. Submit a new X and R chart with these new points added. 4. In the written text, indicate if the process now looks like it is in statistical control? Why or why not? What should be done if it not under control? B) P-chart (Attribute Chart). 1. Our Family Hospital surveys all outgoing patients by means of a patient satisfaction questionnaire. The number of patients surveyed each month varies. Construct a p-chart for the data in the worksheet Problem B which represents responses to a question on satisfaction with hospital meals. The P-chart should have an upper control limit, lower control limit, center line, and a connected line of plotted sample points. 2. After having completed part 1, make an assessment as to whether the process is in control or not in control. Further, explain how you reached this conclusion and provide this along with your average p value, standard deviation, UCL and LCL value. Format: ▪ One page of written text (full paragraphs & subheadings) followed exhibits with proper labels for each exhibit i. Mean Chart for first 30 cookie pulls ii. Range Chart for first 30 cookie pulls iii. Mean Chart with new 20 points added iv. Range Chart with new 20 points added v. P-Chart
