Soundscapes

•    Each essay must be a minimum of 500 words of content that directly corresponds to the essay topic. The heading does not count towards the word count. Papers

that are less than 500 words will automatically receive no credit.
•    Each essay must cite any sources used. There is not a preferred format, however, all citations should be clear. Nearly every essay will require some sort of

citation (essay topics 2-­-4 will always require some citation). Even if your major field of study is a topic for an essay (i.e. music, dance, etc.) you are still

required to use and cite sources. Simply being familiar through your own studies is not enough, reference well-­-respected publications. Failing to cite sources will,

in every instance, result in the lowering of the grade on the assignment.
•    Every component of the essay must be answered. Many prompts have numerous components. If you do not complete the assignment in full, you will not receive full

credit. Essay topics 1-­-3 require you to attend an event, plan accordingly.

Essay Topic:

1.    Soundscapes -­- Describe a soundscape or two that you have attended recently. During this event, what instruments were playing, and what kind of music would

you describe it to be? Imagine this event in another environment. How would this soundscape differ in this changed environment? Would it be successful in another time

or place?
