These short papers you should discuss some aspect of the material covered in class that has appeared recently in the mainstream media (TV, newspaper, magazine, news on the Internet). The grading will be based on the following criteria:

1. How well did you summarize the story?
2. How well did you critically analyze the story? (That is, did you identify accuracy, perspective, and bias? What was said, and what was assumed? Why did the source publish this article?)
3. Why is this story relevant to the class? Specifically tie the story into the material from the readings or the class lecture or videos. Refer back to specific course material as appropriate.
4. Please include a printout or copy of the story.
