Social construction of gender focusing on masculinity
Written in 12 Pt. Times New Roman, double-spaced, with a 1’’ margin on each side of the page. Your bibliography should be alphabetical, written in Chicago Manual of Style (16th ed.) format with Author-Date citations, using footnotes only for explanations. -Must include 10 scholarly sources -craft a research paper around the proposal question posed, guided by a clearly defined perspective on the topic (your thesis). Think critically about which authors might speak to each other well, which authors share your perspective, which authors oppose your perspective, and how you either mediate or further their claims. Your paper should be structured for a non-expert; make sure to thoroughly explain the topic and differing perspectives on it. Your paper should be structured by the thoughts presented in your thesis statement: this statement is meant to guide the reader, helping them understand how your argument will flow and how you will evidence your claims. Make sure you are using transitions and topic sentences to help your reader along. You are welcome to use quotations, statistics, figures, and ideas from the scholarly sources you read, but you must provide a citation for each assertion of fact. An important part of research is acknowledging those scholars who preceded you on the topic, and it is extremely important to make sure you always give proper credit for the work. My proposal question idea: How is gender socially constructed, why is hyper masculinity dangerous, how can we redefine masculinity?
