Smart Goals and Variable Pay Plans

Create a set of goals for the staffing manager position including measurements and metrics for the goals. Remember,
an effective goal should be:

Specific, with defined results
Measurable, both as to the current state and the desired state
Challenging but attainable
Reasonable, meaning that the goal is relevant to the employee’s current scope of responsibility and the employee has the means to achieve the desired outcome
Subject to a time frame for achievement
Flexible enough to accommodate changing circumstances
You completed set should have at least three, but no more than five, goals
Thus far, you have outlined a job description, crafted a recruiting plan, and established goals/objectives for the new Staffing Manager position. Create a variable pay plan for the position. (Note that the term “pay for performance” is often used interchangeably with the term variable pay.) As you have learned, variable pay is compensation that is tied to performance. Consider the set of goals that you drafted as part of the SMART Goals . Use those to develop a comprehensive variable pay plan for the Staffing Manager position.
