She Loves Me Analysis

Watch the following Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of She Loves Me.

“She Loves Me.” , directed by David Horn. , produced by Mitch Owgang, and Ellen Krass. , BroadwayHD, 2016. Alexander Street, .

This is a musical adaptation from a play that was written in the 30’s. It can feel a little dated as a result. The plot revolves around a Hungarian store who’s two main employees, Georg Nowack and Amalia Balash are at consistently at odds with each other at work. They are unaware that each is the other’s secret pen pal met through lonely-hearts ads. The story line can feel kind of dated but we are watching it for the specific reasons below. I want you to write a 2 – 3 page paper again. This time I don’t need a synopsis of the play, I want you to do an analysis of Acting, Directing, Design and Playwright. This is what we read about for the past 4 weeks. What did you visually like or not like about this production? How is the acting style of the show? Do the actors portray convincing characters? Does the Director keep your interest in the play with the action of the actors? Analysis the scenic, lighting and costumes. Again, what did part of this production did you like or dislike. Does the date and place that the playwright set the musical have anything to do with the styles of acting or design that were picked? How does the music move the plot along?
