Selecting Fabrics and Trims

Visit a nearby fabric stores in your community like Joann’s or online stores like www.fabric.com, www.fabricdepot.com and research the various fabrics, trims, and embellishments available. Write down the prices of these items.
Note: the prices will be retail prices. Therefore, calculate the wholesale cost of the fabric and trim by dividing the retail price in half. This will give you a closer idea of how much the garment will cost to produce before considering labor.
Report the fiber content and fabric type, as well as width. If a store is not easily accessible, research online to study a variety of fabrics, trims, and embellishments.
Remember to carry your digital camera to the store and take close-ups of the fabrics, trims, and embellishments, and add them to your Swatch Journal. You need to receive permission from the store before taking photographs. By using the template provided address the following areas:
