Scholarly Article Summary and Response

Scholarly Article Summary and Response

complete two tasks: to briefly summarize a main point from the scholarly article, and then to respond to this main point with your own interpretation of the primary, creative text. Your essay structure should reflect these two tasks–spend your first few paragraphs summarizing the main point of the article, using author tags and signal verbs to anchor your summar (i.e. Tharp claims, Tharp describes). Then, spend the remainder of your essay responding to these points, discussing how this scholarship adds to our understanding of The Round House, and illustrating to what degree your own interpretation of The Round House agrees andor disagrees with the scholar’s interpretation. Your essay should be fairly evenly split between summary and reponse, and you should integrate relevant quotes from both the primary creative work and the scholarly article in your essay.
