Role of Cross-docking in distribution system Due date: Week 7 (14/04/2015) during tutorial Individual Assessment: Write a literature review based upon the topic of: ‘Cross-docking.’ Cross-docking plays a major part in the distribution of products to retail and end customers and your report should pay particular attention to: ??Define, and describe the purpose of cross-docking throughout the distribution operations ??The importance and benefits of cross-docking ??Give example of some companies who are using cross-docking successfully Submission details: Please submit an electronic copy on to VU Collaborate, and hand in a hard copy of the assignment with a completed Assessment Declaration front sheet attached, by the tutorial on 14/04/2015. Both copies should include the title of the assessment, your name, and student number. The report should be approx 1500 (+/- 10%) words in length, a word count should be provided at the end, and should follow an acceptable academic structure for literature reviews (e.g. Introduction, Topics Discussion, Conclusions, References, etc.) Referencing should be in the Harvard style with a minimum of 8 different ACADEMIC references included (no Wikipedia!!). If you are unsure about searching for academic material please ask during tutorial time.
