Rhetorical Strategies

You will prepare a mini rhetorical analysis of Don Findlay's essay (that is, it won't be as long as your regular
RA, because you will be analyzing a shorter article. However, your RA will have the same structure.)
Your title will be
A Rhetorical Analysis of "The Nature of Money and Interest, and What You Can Do About It"
Follow this structure:
Introduction (subhead)
Your first, second, and third paragraphs will be your Introduction. Your Introduction will be like the introduction
you wrote for your regular RA (if you want a refresher, study Sarah Martinez's RA in the course reader).
Analysis of Rhetorical Appeals (subhead)
Define logos, and then write how effectively Findlay appeals (or doesn't appeal) to our sense of it. Give
examples. Again, you may use Sarah Martinez's model paper to guide you.
Define ethos. Then, write how effectively Findlay appeals (or doesn't appeal) to our sense of it. Give examples.
Define pathos. Next, write how effectively Findlay appeals (or doesn't appeal) to our sense of it. Give
examples.
Last, define kairos. Then, write how effectively Findlay appeals (or doesn't appeal) to our sense of it. Give
examples.
Analysis of Rhetorical Strategies (subhead)
Define and explain the rhetorical strategies you see in Findlay's article. Write how effectively Findlay uses (or
doesn't use) them. Give examples.
Conclusion (subhead)
Sum up how effectively, overall, you think Findlay's essay is. This paragraph will be similar to the one you did
for your RA.
Works Cited (subhead)
Cite your sources, if you used any. Use the style you are most familiar with (APA, MLA, or…?). Be consistent.
