- Choose food items from the menu to create ONE complete meal – Either breakfast, lunch or dinner.
You MUST include a beverage, so if the menu does not list a beverage, you will need to find one to add to your meal.
You MUST include at least 3 different food items in your menu.
Clearly list the food & beverage items selected for your meal. (4 marks) The meal must follow these guidelines:
i) It must not exceed 1100 kcal (1 mark)
Calculate the total calories to confirm.
ii) It must meet all of the requirements of the AMDR for each of the following:
a. Carbohydrate (45 – 65%) (1 mark)
b. Protein (10 – 35%) (1 mark)
c. Fat (20 – 35%) (1 mark)
d. Saturated fat (10% or less) (1 mark)
Calculate the % kcalories for each of the following four nutrients to confirm.
- State an example of a good food choice from the menu and explain why it is a good choice. You may NOT choose one of your selections from your menu.
