Response to Intervention Proposal

Purposeful, planned schoolwide curriculum helps ensure a more consistent experience for students across
their years of attendance. Planning a specific, schoolwide intervention system to work within that curriculum
provides a uniform structure that guides teachers in how to assist their students in meeting their academic
goals.
After analyzing your school’s Response to Intervention (RTI)/Pyramid of Intervention program, in a 12-15 slide
digital presentation, develop a proposal to the curriculum director proposing that an RTI program be created.
Your proposal must incorporate school-based data and evidence-based research to substantiate what you are
proposing. All identifiable student information should be replaced with pseudonyms for confidentiality.
Include the following in your digital presentation:
A rationale for the program based on key research showing the effectiveness of RTI programs for improving
student outcomes.
An original diagram that displays the RTI levels and the interventions encompassed within each level. Include
an explanation of how you have designed the RTI program to make the education experience more effective
for students and teachers.
An explanation of how the program supports students in meeting state content standards and can be used with
district curriculum.
A sample of student assessment data from your school site required to evaluate students’ current learning
needs and assign tiered intervention support.
A description of appropriate technologies that could be used to anticipate and assess emerging trends and
initiatives as they relate to student performance, tracking student progress, and/or providing differentiated
instruction.
Steps you would take as a principal to implement the program or any changes, including professional
development for teachers, communication with parents, etc. Consider the current obstacles you might
encounter as you implement these steps, and explain how you will manage uncertainty, risk, competing
initiatives, and politics of change.
A description of goals for the program including the evaluative data sources that would demonstrate if those
goals are met.
A description of how the program supports the school’s vision and mission.
Support your program with 3-5 scholarly resources, demonstrating that your recommendations are reflective of
current initiatives.
Include presenter’s notes, references, and a reference slide.
