Research paper:Crayfish NC

The format of the paper should follow that of a standard scientific research journal. You should have:
An informative title
Author’s Name
Headings for the following sections
Introduction
Introduction to the animals you are study
Reason for studying them (ecological significance, economic importance, etc)
Explanation of the focus of your experiment with discussion of previous literature on which you are basing your
project
Minimum 2 full pages double spaced
Methods
Detailed explanation of how you did your experiment. Again, using full sentences and paragraphs.
Include sampling site locations
Include Dates of collecting
Include methods and materials (brand names when informative)
Include sample sizes
Include discussion of statistics used (if any). Graphs or tables are required, statistical analysis of them is
optional but will yield extra credit. Mention software used to generate graphs or stats.
Results
Fully describe the new results you generated from your observations/experiments. You should include graphs
or tables. Give numbers and headings for each (Figure 1. Comparison of number of ….) and refer to the figures
and tables in the text.
If you did statistical analysis this should be included in the text as well. Usually this is done when you explain
the graph/table.
You must have a paragraph explaining each graph or figure.
Discussion
Here you summarize the main findings of your study
Compare your results with published literature
Disucss the importance or take home message from your work
You may include some discussion of weaknesses or problems encountered, but don’t do this until AFTER you
explain everything else. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot!
