Research paper essay

Research paper essay 4. Explore a chapter in Tattoos on the Heart and consider the divisions of this chapter into its particular scenes. How do these disparate and~oftentimes-opposed vignettes contribute to the overall impact of the chapter on you? How (if they even do so) do the individual mini-narratives connect to or link up with the general chapter heading and the theme? Think in terms of effective “plotting” on Boyle’s part. 5. Certainly, the setting (physical and mental, emotional and spiritual) of Tattoos on the Heart plays a very significant and heavily dramatic role in the lives of those individuals being depicted. How does this particular densely populated and impoverished “urban setting,” for example, impact both the individuals residing there and your own particular response to setting? 6. Boyle engages quite heavily in symbolism in his book. Consider, for example, physical objects that also seem to represent the life or lives, the trouble or troubles, and/or the blessing or blessings of the people in the narrative. See, for example, churches, hospitals, graffito, clothing style, cars, gang signs, buildings, prisons, or anything else that seems to represent and to dramatize the individual/collective lives of these people. 7. Although he focuses on a specific neighborhood or area in his work, Gregory Boyle, nevertheless, deals with themes that we have confronted before-specifically in Francisco Jimenez’ autobiographical work, The Circuit. See, for example, the horrific limitations in both works put upon those people who are either or both economically impoverished, socially marginalized, and generally uneducated. You may wish to select a character, a theme, or a scene from both works and then to undertake a detailed discussion of these crucial scenes/or and the figures in them as they relate to one of the above ideas. What do they have in common? Or how are they different? What do you understand via the dramatization of these disparate elements? If the questions seem to overlap, do not be concerned: They do! Think of each question as a beginning or as a point of departure for your discussion. Or think of them as focal points- differences in “degree” if not in “kind.” As an additional REQUIREMENT for this assignment, I will meet with each of you individually. All that you need do for this meeting is to write a working thesis statement in response to one of the questions listed above and to write out, type, or even highlight six possible citations from the book, and to offer a list of the required secondary sources. These primary citations should relate to your working thesis statement as well as to your discussion. You may meet with me during any of the normal class periods or any of my scheduled office hours. This meeting will be 20% of your total essay grade, so do not “blow it offl” I want to be sure that you can both manage your topic and that you are also “on topic.” Best of luck to “Ye” in both your future academic endeavors and in your future personal lives! It’s been a “slice of heaven!” Paper details: - Sources: Tattoos on the Heart, Between Worlds and Father Greg of Homeboy Industries Bibliography (i will attach this file" - Required: i will attach a file.
