Research Methods: Quantitative
Part A
Describe a quantitative research project you would be interested in starting now or in the near future. Explain the problem and why this would be important for you to study? Why is a quantitative methodology an appropriate research strategy for your project?
Part B
Then, evaluate a peer post (below) for appropriateness of using a quantitative research strategy for the proposed study below. Discuss challenges they might encounter using a quantitative methodology.
One of the biggest challenges I have seen as a technician and now as a health and safety professional is the effectiveness of onboarding and computer-based refresher operation training. These types of trainings easily become another check the box item. More times than none these trainings are completed because they are a requirement to maintain qualification in operational duties, the information in these trainings is not always retained. Technicians normally learn their jobs more thoroughly through on -the-job training and by the habit of performing their daily tasks. I would consider using quantitative methodologies to examine the effectiveness of these trainings methods and if they are applied on the manufacturing floor. I have researched this topic to some degree in the past but not using the quantitative research method. Using a quantitative research method to better evaluate the effectiveness of onboarding and computer-based refresher trainings could lead to more effective ways to train technicians and reduce or eliminate any operational risk that may arise from the lack of comprehension or attention to details.
