In this section of your nonfiction portfolio, you will explore and expand on your nonfiction selection's central theme through artistic expression. You may
choose one of the following formats for your creative connection:
- Find a picture of one piece of art work (painting, sculpture, etc.) that depicts the work's central theme or message. Submit the picture with a short
multi-paragraph essay explaining why you think this work captures the novel's theme and message.
- Create an original poem where you capture the work’s central theme or message. Submit your poem with a short multi-paragraph essay explaining your concept
and process.
- Prepare an in-depth interview (both questions and answers) with the author of your work. Rather than asking obvious questions (where were you born?), try
to probe further into your author’s psyche, inquiring about the rhetorical choices he or she made in crafting the work.
