Examine the history, politics and poetics of Israeli-Palestinian conflict and peace-seeking,
and applications to other identity-based conflicts around the world. We will explore these topics through the
lens of creative conflict engagement theory and practice, emphasizing personal and collective narratives and
identity.
Learning Objectives
This course will ideally encourage students to:
Build a more complex understanding of Israeli and Palestinian identities and historical narratives of the
conflict.
Appreciate the complexity of the conflict history and paths to peace.
Gain understanding of the human dimension of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and creative engagement of
identity-based conflict there and around the world.
Gain skill in reflexive way of thinking, analyzing, and writing about conflict and peace.
Contribute to dynamic learning environment, including relationships of mutual respect and dialogue within the
class.
