How does the Canadian health care system address the diverse and unique needs of older adults? What, if any, are some areas for improving, accommodating, and meeting the needs of older adults?
There are many ways individuals navigate the changes and adapt. To understand the interplay of each, consider some of the older adults in your life and the range of behaviours, personality traits, physical abilities and challenges, and coping styles exhibited by each.
What are some phenomenon related to an aging population that you want to learn more about or understand better and why? Some of the best research questions can come from our experiences and observations. For example, when nurse Betty puts on music when she draws blood for lab tests from her patients with dementia, she rarely has any resistance; when she does not use music, some of the patients with dementia resist, making it very hard for Betty to do her job. The potential research question here is “Does listening to background music have an impact on blood withdrawal in patients having dementia?”
