Race, ethnicity, or cultural group.
-In this assignment students will interview a friend, family member, or acquaintance of a different race, ethnicity, or cultural group. You will provide your interviewee with the provided questionnaire and discuss their responses with them in a short discussion where you can follow up on answers and ask additional questions of your own for clarity.
-With the information that your receive from the questionnaire and your short discussion you will write a paper that uses the course information (lectures, assigned readings and documentaries) to craft a paper that shares the lived experiences of your interviewee in conversation with the historical facts, data, and narratives that have composed this course.
-You are able to use any of the course information in your paper, but you are required to discuss and cite at least 3 required readings in your discussion of your interviewee– this does not include the powerpoints.
-This is a practice in not just analytical writing, but also your skills in discussing information from readings without merely SUMMARIZING the readings. This is a discursive piece, where you are mixing real world experiences with historical/academic pieces. When introducing information from your chosen sources, you should be focusing on the themes of the piece rather than summarizing the article or book chapter from start to finish.
Always cite information that comes from your sources and not only direct quotations. If it is not your own idea or original thought process you need to cite it.
